Studio and On-Location Portraits

Each portrait is a work of art, in our view it cannot be a simple snapshot. We put our imagination, patience and skills into every portrait. A portrait has a very definite intent - to show the best of the person we photograph and reveal the person's personality. And we work to produce a masterpiece each time, so our clients would treausre it for a long time, or maybe even pass to next generation as a memory. There are several crucial parts that contribute to a great portrait:

  • Light - it would be impossible to create a photograph without some light, and in the portrait light plays crucial part. With light you can convey mood or even emphasize or reveal certain features and traits of the person
  • Pose - the way person appears in the portrait can say a lot, also it affects the mood and even expresses the portrait message. Oh, yes, there is that main message about the personality and attitude of the photographed person.
  • Composition - there are a few subtle things that we consider when compose the frame, from the turn of the head to a crop of the image, which could play a significant role in how people will perceive the portrait and the photographed person
  • Smile - what you see first in a portrait? The eyes and the smile. A truthful smile not only in the mouth and lips, but also in the eyes. And sometimes it's not easy to make the person smile
  • Background - the environment where the person is photographed has its own meaning and brings certain effect to the image. It could a strong corporate image of a manager in his office or intimate feeling of lovers in a cozy place or a beautiful park.
  • Props - our lives are reflected in things we surround ourselves with. Such props could add that missing piece to a portrait and complete the mental picture about the subject.
  • Presentation - from the frame border to various digital effects. Such elements could enhance the image and support the mood we are trying to achieve.
  • Size - even such trivial thing like size of the print communicates the significance of the person and adds impact to the photograph

The listed elements of the portrait are always under our utmost scrutiny. To achieve a perfect portrait we pay significant attention to the details, so nothing wrong would find its way into the photograph. And even if we missed something, in post-processing and retouching we will correct it.

Most of the mentioned elements are about technical detail and skills, but still the major part in success of the portrait plays the rapport with the person we making the portrait of. And that's why we do our best to make your feel comfortable and relaxed, so the camera could see your true self - smiling and joyful. For such purposes we can behave like kids and make funny faces.

One of the benefits of working with us is that you don't have to go to a studio, we go to you and if necessary set up the studio. When we do our photography at your home that is filled with things that penetrate your life and could tell a whole story about you, we sugget you bring a few peronal things as props to add that personal touch and enhance your personality in the image.

You may have a place in mind that brings certain memories or tells a story by itself, such as a park you met your beloved or landmark and memorial. There is nothing that prevents us from making photographs in such environments.

We can even do photography of an event, it doesn't matter whether it is small or big one. Wedding is the ultimate challenge of such work, and we excel at it. And portraits created at the events sometime could be even much better than the posed one in a studio - during such events people tend to relax and forget about the photographer, they start being themselves and real emotions and expressions appear in every shot. So it requires a bit of skills to capture a person at the right moment and at the right angle, which we posses.
